How we keep lead times short for our retail partners

Lead time is one of the most underrated factors in HVAC wholesale. A retailer can forgive a slightly higher price. What they can't forgive is a compressor or spare part that arrives late - especially when their own customers are waiting in a heatwave. Over the years, we've learned that short lead times don't happen by accident. They come from a few deliberate choices.

We hold more stock than we strictly need to. It's tempting to run lean and order only what's already been requested. But that approach leaves no room for surprises. By holding buffer stock on our core lines, we can dispatch immediately when a customer orders - rather than waiting for the next shipment to arrive.

We plan further ahead than feels comfortable. For imported lines, we place orders months before we expect demand - well before the summer rush on systems and parts. That means committing to stock before we know exactly how it will sell. It's not a perfect science, but it's better than being caught short during peak season.

We communicate early when something is at risk. If a shipment is delayed or a supplier flags a capacity issue, we tell our customers immediately - not when the order is already late. That gives them time to adjust their own plans, which is far more valuable than a promise we can't keep.

We keep our supplier relationships strong. A supplier who trusts you is more likely to prioritise your order when capacity is tight. We've built those relationships over years, not transactions.

None of this is glamorous. It's just disciplined. And for our retail partners, it means one less thing to worry about.
